Lists with This Book This book is not yet featured on Listopia Add this book to your favorite list Community Reviews showing 1 1 Rating details Sort Default Filter Sep 05, 2016 Pamela Simone rated it really liked it Still a MysteryI likes this book for the way it dealt with Constance s later life and career Many books go through the crime and legal details but do not go into the aftermath.It is stated that the full details of Constance s involvement and burden of guilt will never be known The details died with Constance and William.That she was able to learn from this event and grew into a really good person who gave back to the world through her work shows that she learned and rehabilitated herself By a Still a MysteryI likes this book for the way it dealt with Constance s later life and career Many books go through the crime and legal details but do not go into the aftermath.It is stated that the full details of Constance s involvement and burden of guilt will never be known The details died with Constance and William.That she was able to learn from this event and grew into a really good person who gave back to the world through her work shows that she learned and rehabilitated herself By all existing accounts, she became a decent human being with empathy and determination to give her best She wasn t born bad or was not a monster though she was involved in a monstrous act.Based on the material presented, she seemed to be a high spirited and independent child at a time when children were expected to be submissive and well behaved, especially girls She was a strong girl at a time when girls were expected to be meek followers without opinions or sense of self She was punished when she showed any individuality She was given the message that she was a bad person when she did not conform.This combined with the dysfunctional family situation may have pushed, particularly the taunting of her former governess that replaced her own mother must have seemed to be unbearable to young Constance By her father s actions, she must have felt she and William were being displaced by the new family and being robbed of what she may have seen as her birthright In an act that could have lead to losing her own life, I believe she struck out in a way to hurt those who had hurt her without really considering the full impact of her actions She wanted to take from others what she may have felt was taken from her She may have wanted others to hurt the way she was hurting at the time.Yet, she did confess How much of the final act was committed by Constance we will never know Was she protecting William as a participant is something that will never be known.What we do know is that she changed her life while imprisoned She found direction and purpose and made a career of service through nursing She grew into a cultured, caring woman that gave to each community where she lived and served well in positions of responsibility She found a constructive outlet for her energy and skills.Many of the theories previous authors put forth in attempts to exonerate Constance do not make sense when closely examined This book discusses those theories showing what aspects do not makes sense.For those with an interest in this case, this is an excellent read flag Like see review new topicDiscuss This Book There are no discussion topics on this book yet Be the first to start one Share Recommend It Stats Recent Status Updates Books by Noeline Kyle More Trivia About A Greater Guilt No trivia or quizzes yet Add some now
